The Hyundai National Championships mens and womens pairs winners have been found in blustery and chaotic conditions at the Hutt Bowling Club in Wellington.
Double world champion and now the record title holder for New Zealand National Championships Gary Lawson has taken out the 2010 National Pairs title with partner Danny Delany from Onehunga.
Lawson and Delany fought their way back against former New Zealand representative Sean O'Neill and team mate Lance Pascoe from a 10-2 deficit playing telling bowls and continuously rising in confidence to come out with a 14-12 victory and give Lawson his 11th official National title and Delany his third.
In the womens pairs, the Auckland composite of Reen Stratford and lead Bev Crowe were victorious in picking up the 2010 Womens Pairs National title defeating the formidable Omanu combination of Bev White and Josephine Connolly 17-14.
Crowe from the Carlton Cornwall Bowling club won the same title in 2008 with partner Jo Babich and her consistent leading and Stratford's class saw them through to the title.
The mens and womens singles final will take place approximately midday and with the likes of crowd pleaser Ken Walker from the Fairfield Bowling Club and current Black Jack Andrew Todd in the mens final, it is certainly building to be a great encounter.
The womens singles will be between NZ Open runner-up and current Black Jack Jan Khan and NZ Open pairs winner Jan Shirley from the Canterbury Bowling Club in Christchurch.
